DeleteIt is an interesting question. I don't believe he would ever intentionally harm his brother- they appear to have been very close. However it has been suggested that Mike at the very least knows a whole lot more than he has said and I wonder why some think that?
DeleteYes, I believe Mike knows more than he is telling. This was obvious to me when I first interviewed him on my talk show. Plus, his behavior, the things he did, from February 4 though about July of 2010 turn on the sirens and red flashing lights. I have a chapter on Mike in the book, very revealing.

Are you guys saying that Mike and Summer had a relationship, that Mike is the other man? That Mike went into the house to erase sordid emails between he and Summer? Do you think something happened to Joey, maybe Summer killed Joey, and Mike had to rush in and set up the whole disappearance/mystery in order to keep their secret from his wife and in order to protect Summer? Do you think Mike crossed the border with Summer and the children, set them up somewhere, and returned home like nothing happened? Do we have to "wait for the book to find out"? or will you discuss this plot now if you are insinuating this? I don't believe this happened, but if you do, please openly discuss.

ReplyDeleteI don't think there was a second set of car seats. Maybe Joseph put them in the truck before he left that morning, because Summer would have taken the boys to Ross to shop that afternoon. Unless, of course, you subscribe to the conspiracy theory that someone else used Summer's credit card, which I do not.

OK, so say you are correct and there was only one set of child safety seats and Joey transferred them to the truck that day before he left for his meeting driving the Trooper...that means he would have also had to transfer them back to the Trooper before they went out that evening...not something one does quickly from what I have seen. Just something else to think about.

In light of all this I can't help but feel law enforcement should be answering some of these questions or at least make a statement to the public about the case. The silence is deafening and at times infuriating!

I thought it better to just open my blog to questions that I can answer here and not offend the Mods or anyone else. I was in a quandary because when I was asked a question that I could not answer yet (because the answer is in the book) I was pounded for not answering the question. And, when I said that the answer was in the book, I was pounded by the Mods for "pushing the book" when all I was doing was stating a fact. Not a fun position to be in.
ReplyDeleteMy take on LE is one of two things have happened:
1. LE believes the family has voluntarily left the building and don't have the resources or desire to look for them. Or,
2. LE is quietly conducting a murder investigation and keeping everything close to the vest. There is not much they can do without a body and are probably hoping someone will slip up.
And let's also remember that LE is under no obligation to ever tell the truth about this case, or any other for that matter.
With all due respect, I would love to know the answer to the first question asked here since you did we can ask you questions yet unanswered. FWIW I'm just a mom in Tustin Ranch who lived in San Clemente for many years as a kid so this case really intrigues me. Are there only certain questions you are willing to answer? I'd like to know if you think the house was staged and why they or someone would do that? Also, do you think that is at least Summer and the kids on the border video? Thanks and I so hope we really do get to see your book and its not just a ploy to get them or at least smoke Summer out. can we pre order the book? DeleteYou can ask any question you would like, but I may not answer them all. I am not going to post the entire book on my site and some questions just have to wait because they are answered in the book.
However, I have and will continue to post every question I receive here on this page, just may choose to not answer.
Now, for your first question, that deals with whether Mike and Summer had any email contact in the months before the disappearance; I choose to not answer this question. Sorry, but I have my reasons.
As for the staging of the house, yes, I believe it was staged and I dig into this in the book, mainly "why" was it staged.
I don't think it is Summer and the kids on the border video, but who knows for sure? No one can say with certainty if it is or isn't. No one.
I assure you the book is not a ploy, although if it were to "smoke Summer out" that would be great! She won't be happy when she reads it, that's for sure.

ReplyDeleteYes, I will answer. First though, let's remember that this case is not a game. There are two young boys out there somewhere, let's not lose sight of this. It shouldn't matter what emails I have or where I got them. Only that they help bring closure to this mystery.
DeleteThat said, I have emails from Summer to Joseph, from Summer to her brother Kenneth, and sister Tracy, from Summer to her friends and business associates, from Summer to plastic surgeons, real estate brokers, insurance agents, photographers, financial institutions. I have emails from Summer to people in far away lands, and I have other emails from Summer to a person I cannot reveal here, because it is possible that before my sources captured these emails, a family member might have gone into Joseph's email account and deleted a number of pertinent messages in the week after the disappearance. Luckily, this family member was not able to get into Summer's account so we are fairly confident that her account was unaltered. I have emails from Joseph to Summer, from Joseph to all his friends and business associates, from Joseph to his brother Mike, to his mom, Susan, to his dad, Patrick...
Last night I learned that there are more documents, not publicly revealed, that may provide more puzzle pieces, some surprising. I am sorting through the information today and tomorrow and will update soon.

Does this include the paypal accounts circulating around on as my understanding Patrick McStay's website about Dan K and the withdrawls that were made from the account? Were you able to speak with Daniel K (sp?) about the dates of the transactions in coorespondence with the alleged spotting in the neighbor's video of the Isuzu leaving on February 4, 2010 as well as the date they found the car at the mall and then subsequently towed the car - I am curious what has LE done about that situation as the details do seem to make the eyebrow raise and need further explanation - the amounts are suspicious too in that that's how much someone would do to avoid a paper trail - I am curious about this and a bit intrigued but I do not know how Patrick McStay got them and I don't think we can ignore that - but I would like to know if you had the opportunity to speak with Daniel K in more detail than what has been found and your thougts about the bank accounts - they are interesting but they are not solid evidence
However - the first two transactions correspond way two closely between February 4th and February 10th not to look at what was done with the money and is that really what happened

Is there any proof that Joseph came home on the fourth? It is almost assumed that he came home after work/lunch date, like Father Knows Best, then ushered his family out under duress. However, I am unaware of any verifying evidence to PROVE he ever came home that last day.

They're meant to have received a letter from CSA on the 4th. Have you found any evidence that happened? Joey's ex wife's new husband was supposed to have threatened Summer.
Also, the last call from Joey was to Chase Merritt, right? Do you think CM is in any way involved with their disappearance?
Rick, you said that Chase Merritt was not involved in this case in any way, that he had the greatest financial loss after the disappearance of Joey. Does that mean you believe that the disappearance is about financial gain with regard to Joey's business? My understanding is that D.K. had the greatest gain financially from a couple of days after the disappearance when he "realized" they were gone missing till the day he sold the business. But, are you sure the disappearance/crime is about financial gain?
DeleteAlso, you said that the house was staged. Do you mean after the 4th? I believe Michael went into the house once or twice and I believe he said he was the only one who entered. Do you think Michael staged the house? Do you think he staged the eggs, the popcorn, the diaper and the dogs outside. That's not staged as a crime scene or even an unusual day in that household.
Also, do you believe Michael took computers or made changes to emails? Deletions I suppose you are talking about. There's no financial gain in Joey's business for Michael as far as I can see. Perhaps there was something embarrassing in the emails. So what. Perhaps he was saving the family from D.K.'s "intrusive" behavior. That's all I see. No gain, no crime.
Could these actions just be afterthoughts, after the disappearance that is, the financial gain and the cleanup, and not really a part of the disappearance/crime? Could D.K., Michael and Lisa/Summer be innocent of the disappearance/crime aspect of this case and find themselves inserted into the disappearance/crime scenario because of their own personality flaws? I might as well add Patrick's name here. So who is left? You and carefree McGyver. I think you are also innocent of everything but character flaws. Is ballbusting a character flaw?

DeleteUnfortunately the McStay forum on WS is now being dominated by PM's girlfriend, whom they are letting state all kinds of "facts" without any info to back them up, which usually isn't allowed on WS but I think this case is getting so much attention over there they don't want to shut her up. I've been a WS member for a long time and am very disappointed in how they have let the rules side for this person because of her connection to the case. She had never been able to back up even one single claim she's made, claims which PM has told her.

I do believe there are several women, and men, who support him and try to pass on his knowledge to others at WS, but I have seen no evidence of any of them be romantically involved with the elder McStay. I too am a member at WS. As far as I can see they are very careful about what they allow to be said there, probably because they fear lawsuits if they allow posters there to somehow defame the family. WS is a 'victim friendly' environment and it has been stated there many times that, until there is proof otherwise, ALL of the missing family members are considered as 'victims'. Anyone else's 'personal information' is also 'off limits' unless it has direct bearing on the case. This is all part of the 'Terms Of Service' (TOS) at WS...and appears to be applied to everyone who posts there, even Mr. Baker. I have seen no one being allowed to state 'facts' without info/proof...people are allowed to post theories and must state that it is their opinion or theory...as long as it is not aimed at the 'victims' it will stand as a theory. Facts must be backed by evidence which is a matter of 'public' record.

It is nice that you consider the remaining family as victims but after three years it is totally illogical to not look at the remaining family members, who didn't bother to report them missing for 10 days. TSL has done NOTHING but state things as facts with nothing to back it up. She has presented herself as an expert and she is not. She cannot back up her posts and if you would like I will paste here many of her posts that prove this. Also, why was she a verified poster and now she is not? So apparently TOS applies to some, but not all? This case is different, you have 4 people who have disappeared and the family members cannot tell the same story twice. DeleteAs for TLS, I have not seen her post anything as 'fact' without proof, most often she says it is 'moo' meaning it is her own opinion, or 'air' which means it is something she recalls being said in early articles, tv programs, by news media or even other posters or family members. As a long time member of WS, if you have followed this case, you should know that many early articles and videos are no longer available to back up statements made...this does not mean that some who have followed the case from the beginning on both WS and other crime boards (IS, JQ, etc.) do not recall things from those articles/videos, but unfortunately cannot back up their memory with the actually thing. I have also seen many of TLS's posts removed, just as others' posts have been. Just because you disagree with her, or anyone elses posts does not mean they are invalid.
I apologize, I misunderstood about the family members. But TLS misuses MOO constantly. It is not that I disagree with her, often times I do not. It is that she posts as fact about things she knows nothing about. She has never left her Georgia home yet acts as an expert. Does not know the family has not talked to them have never met them. This hurts the case and WS when the mods allow her posts as fact, even with her moo. Even though some of the links may be gone now, a good investigator most of the time can still find the information. For some reason the mods at WS just allow her to post about whatever she wants. Seems like there is always someone like her on all these sites and it hurts their credibility.

DeleteOne of my theories is that DK has something to do with their disappearance and it's over money. Here's why:
ReplyDelete1. He was the first one to report them missing
2. He transferred money from JM's paypal account before the family was officially reported missing
3. He has previously threatened Joey
4. In the E! Investigates documentary, he keeps on talking about the mass amounts of money JM was making. He even suspected at least $200k in cash was on Joey.
5. Days before the disappearance, DK asks Joey for money to pay a phone bill
I'm theorizing that if Dan Kavanaugh presumed Joseph McStay had so much money, even cash, and he owed money to others, he could have had a hand in having JM and family done away with so money can be accessed easily to pay back major loans.
As a result of the disappearance, DK illegally sells the business and (keeps the profits?). But not before transferring some funds to himself beforehand.
What do you think?

ReplyDeleteI wish I had known Joseph. According to every one of his friends that I have either met with personally or talked to on the phone, Joseph was laid back and easy-going. One friend said, "You could always just crash on his couch." Another, "He hated conflict." Still another, "He always looked for the best in people."
DeleteI'd like to revisit the question above about DK. Lots to worry about where he is concerned. Callous, crude, violent,dishonest and worse are words that might be applied. What are your investigations turning up, or at least that which you can share here?

DeleteI've been reading through your blog and the websleuth forums pertaining to this case after I was reminded of it by a television show this weekend and I guess I was just wondering about the sightings that have been reported over the past 2+ years. If, as the most accepted theories suggest, the family is either willfully hiding or Summer murdered Joey and is willfully hiding herself and the boys, common sense would lead me to believe they altered their appearances significantly. I'd assume that we are no longer looking for two shaggy-haired boys. The most clearly identifiable feature, the younger son's birthmark, could be disguised with a good concealer, especially the kind marketed to cover tattoos. Summer could do any number of things to alter her appearance and if Joey is still in the picture he could make some drastic changes as well. I'm just wondering, if this family is voluntarily missing, how likely it would be they'd be sighted looking just as they did at the time of their disappearance?

Thank you, Mr. Baker. I'm new to the internet communities' take on this case but have certainly been perplexed by the shows I have seen discussing it on E! and I.D. networks. I hadn't been on Websleuths or the McStay Facebook page until yesterday and I was taken aback by the some of the vitriol on the Facebook page. This is clearly a frustrating case that might leave tempers running high. The clues in this case are fascinating but few and have stagnated over the years. As long as your book doesn't slander anyone for the sake of slander, I think any push to re-examine evidence and spread interest is a step in the right direction. As you've pointed out, those two little boys cannot simply remain unaccounted for while their safety and wellbeing is in question. Any nastiness can and should be held back for the sake of bringing them home.

I'm very interested reading Summer's emails to plastic surgeons. The hardest part of disguising the boys would be hiding Joseph Jr's birthmark, there's only so much you can hide with long bangs and putting cover-up on a small child every day would get difficult. It horrifies me to think a parent would subject their small child to the pain associated with plastic surgery for the sake of selfishly hiding them, if that is the case. With Summer's past of changing names, ages, etc. I wouldn't be suprised if she had plastic surgery in the past. Quite a while ago, a young woman (I'm not posting her name as she is still a minor) started posting on the McStay Facebook page claiming she was the McStay's babysitter for a while. Michael McStay did verify this was true. One of the young women's claims was that one day she babysat for Summer while she visited a plastic surgeon so it very well could be Summer herself who was wanting surgery. This young woman had a lot of info regarding the family but was discouraged from talking about it by her mother and claimed the police never spoke with her after the disappearance. I hope to God someone reported her postings to the police and they finally spoke with her because the things she was posting were quite interesting.
ReplyDeleteI saw some of that . . .the babysitter said Summer was paranoid of the neighbors (San Clemente). People were insisting the babysitter stop talking, because she was a minor. They told her to tell MM the story. It seemed the babysitter really wanted to get the story out, but people kept on telling her to stop.

Just curious, I also find this disappearance intriguing! I just cannot believe that there is no known head way in this case by now!!
I moved to Fallbrook a month after the disappearance and it was all anyone talked about. After I started paying attention to the media interviews with remaining family members, I knew something wasn't right. Maybe passion isn't the right word? Maybe it is "addiction." I have never lost sight of the two young boys. It is about them for me. (As well as exposing what has been covered up.)
DeleteThis case mirrors the disappearance of the Jamison family in Eufala, OK. You have to research that case. Dog was left in truck with personal items, 30+ thousand dollars found under the driver's seat. Coats and cell phones left in the truck. There are so many parallels between both cases. Family members want answers, also.

Yes, I had mentioned a black Corvette because a neighbor had told me one was at Joseph's home a few times during the day in the January 2010.

DeleteI believe it is imperative that everyone keep in mind that Joey did not have a 9 to 5 job either...he worked from home just as Summer did, so the person in the black corvette could have been there to see either of them. Also interesting that the neighbors noticed and/or commented on a black corvette but didn't seem to notice anything else...like when the green dodge truck was last seen leaving or returning to the home. Just an observation...I hate to see rumors started based on inconclusive observations.

Now if that isn't saying that you believe Summer was having an affair with someone who drove a black corvette then I don't know what it is! At no time did you say it was a theory of yours...you stated it as your belief based on what you had allegedly been told by neighbors. One has to wonder why these neighbors never mentioned this to LE or family when questioned in the early days.
Ok, good comment. Let's look at it a different way:

As I wrote on JQ, I talked to the neighbors. However, Joseph and Summer had no friends on their cul de sac and only a few who lived there were home during the days. Most got home between 5pm and 7pm on weekdays and no one really paid any attention to their new McStay neighbors.
Based on what the neighbors and others told me, I "theorized" (and still do) that Summer was having an affair. Until I talk to the owner of the black Corvette, I cannot prove this.
I do believe that Summer is responsible Joseph's death, and I make this case in the book. The reason I see the "alleged" affair as so important is that I cannot get from A to Z with Summer killing Joseph alone. I don't think she is capable of this by herself. She had to have help. Enter, the guy with the black Corvette, or someone else?
Again, we do not know what LE knows and please, do not listen to anyone on any site who tells you differently. In fact, it is clear from Detective Dugal's statement that he believes they did not leave voluntarily and this case is most likely a murder investigation.

In an effort to verify his identity, you asked him about a conversation he had with a neighbor. While he couldn't recall the neighbor's name, he did know the topic discussed. Was that topic the black Corvette? Who do you think the caller was?

I address this in the book, but, basically, I believe it was someone with knowledge in the case (and maybe related) who was a bit concerned about what I was going to include for publication in the book and wondering if i was still going to publish it. At that time, I had no intention of going forward to publish.

ReplyDeleteLE has been tight lipped about this case and has not "confirmed" that this as a murder investigation, which we should expect and appreciate. This is my opinion based on statements from Det. Dugal. Joseph wasn't "working at home" as often as some might think.

DeleteI think you mentioned you had a chance to talk to the neighbor who snapped the video of the Isuzu trooper leaving - was he able to provide any other footage information for earlier that day, and later on and on the days following-
ReplyDeletesomething else was that there was supposedly a newspaper under or by the wheel of the green truck that was parked in the driveway - did the detectives ever look at the date of the newspaper and talk to the paper delivery person to see what if anything they had noticed shortly before during and after he delivered the newspaper - it does seem a bit odd that if Joseph had the trooper for the meeting with Chase Merritt because of the issue with the car seats for the kids -
someething else I'm curious about is that were they ever able to determine exactly what kind of coat she bought at Ross - not just that it was a winter coat - but what it looked like and the blankets and pajamas as well - those could possibly have some clues if trouble was brewing -
also when Summer and Joseph were staying with his parents before moving into the house were you able to speak to any of the neighbors on that street to verify if the black corvette ever drove by there and what if anything they observed?

Yes, the book will be released on February 4, 2013. Pre-publication copies will be in the hands of select media by the middle of January. There is not much to discuss now so I am waiting for the book's release and then we will have lively discussion. Thanks for your comment.

Hi Anne- I think the NC sighting has credibility and maybe the casino one as well. I went to the casino to look at the area Summer was allegedly spotted and of course Southport at the restaurant and ferry. I think the one common denominator in all these sightings is Summer and the kids. The man with this woman is never consistent in appearance. I talk more about this in the book. ReplyDeleteAll the charges against me, all of them, were false. In my book, The Tears of a Father, I present the actual court transcripts from the judge who declares the charges to be "false," orders all my "bail money refunded" (very rare) and recommends I "sue LE for false arrest." (I never did)

I am looking forward to the book, not necessarily because I think it will surprise me with new info but I'm interested in the format in which it will be presented. It will be a fresh look at some old information and maybe there is something that was missed along the way or maybe it's just the renewed attention to the case that will get people interested. I find it strange that some of the people on the extended Mcstay family Facebook pages have said that the reward being offered puts the family in jeopardy. When people make statements like that it says to me they know (or suspect) much more than they are saying.

ReplyDeleteWell, I am hoping that this book puts the McStay case out into the public in a way it has not been because someone knows something and $25,000 might get them to talk. My immediate goal is to learn what happened to the McStays and especially Gianni and little Joey. But, yes, we are already working on another case that is a mystery and might make for a good book.

I am a mother and I would not leave toys like this in an abandoned house. Why would Mike's family leave them there? Didn't he have kids? DeleteGlad to see your blog active again. I am hoping the human remains found in Aguangua, CA 2 miles off the 74 are not that of a McStay family member. They actually find a ton of bodies in Riv County, so this is nothing new, but the location of these would fit. I hope not!! Are you in touch with homicide detectives from Riv County? If not, you know you can sign up for email updates on the Riverside County Sheriff's website. Problem is there is so much bad stuff happening in Riverside County that you will get a billion emails a day about all the horrific stuff happening there. Which is why the remains are likely not the McStay's.

I was a little creeped out when I heard about this. Just last week I was reading the McStay thread on Psychic Crimefighter and one of the posters said that Joseph was killed and buried east of San Diego. I’m not a huge believer in psychics but I do think there are some actual legit ones amongst the fakes. There are a couple of people on there who claim Summer and the boys are still living in California in a remote area and are living quietly under the radar with the boys being home schooled. I think this is very probable. I don’t believe it was the McStays on the border crossing video and we’ve all heard about Summer turning down a family vacation with friends, stating she would never take her kids there because it was too dangerous. Does this sound like a woman who would decide to cross the border with her children at night and then start a new life there? NO. I think she would stay in the U.S. and pick a remote location to live. She previously lived in Big Bear, so she didn’t seem to mind being away from the big city. She already seemed to like to keep a distance from others, she gave birth at home and planned on homeschooling the boys. With those factors in place, I don’t think it’s too hard to believe that she could possibly be living in a remote area under an assumed name, only going into town for groceries and other necessities. She oblivious knew how to get a new identity since she’d done it before. The thing that makes me sad is thinking about the boys being put through something like this, never getting to see their home, dogs or belongings again, wondering where their dad went and then wondering why their mother told them they had new names. Can you imagine what that would be like for a child? They are the biggest victims of whatever happened here.

If Joseph and Summer left on their own and have stayed gone for almost 3 years, they should be held accountable for this, but the children are still the victims, just as they are if one parent did something to the other. It's all about Gianni and little Joey.

DeleteJoseph's house was foreclosed by the bank and sold on December 28, 2011 for $345,000. This price was "as is" with most of the landscape in a distressed condition if not completely dead. It is sad that had Joseph been able to finish his renovation, complete with landscaping, he most likely would have been able to sell it for close to $420,000, it's estimated value in today's market there. He bought the house to make a profit and get back to the beach and would most likely been able to do so.
Just wondering about the people who owned the house before the McStays. Would they have any problems with them. Also, it ws stated that Joey met with two men in business suits at some type of game field. Was it to buy Spanish tapes his wife ordered from Craigslist? Very scary!

What is your opinion on this? Do you think this video does exist and that this is information that law enforcement is keeping close to the vest? If I remember correctly, someone from Websleuths checked and was told that there should be video surveillance from that direction.

DeleteBottom line, i don't believe the video is the McStays. The media has stirred this video into a frenzy and there is no evidence it is the family yet everyone keeps talking about it. Isn't them. Someone wanted the Trooper found, which is why they parked it where they did. I noticed on the justicequest website that IIRC you believed that the Merida sighting was a credible sighting and that Summer had a bank account in North Carolina or South Carolina with a substantial amount of money - was the bank account ever investigated when all of the sightings on the east coast were reported in I believe it was the Carolinas? That makes so much more sense about them being there if that's the case. Was the name on the bank account investigated and if there was still a valid passport in existence where she could sneak in and try and grab the money from her account? Were there any members of the family who had access to make withdrawls from that bank account other than Summer - the one that I thought was in the Carolinas -

ReplyDeleteI worked as a natl. director overseeing 35 Hilton hotels, I've worked in the cruise biz & now, one of my businesses is medical tourism out of Tijuana & Cancun. I arrange weightloss & cosmetic surgery in Mexico for people from the US, Canadian & UK. I live in Florida & fly into San Diego, then drive across the border.
It's very very common to park near the border - everybody does it, then you either walk or get transportation across the border. Mexico couldn't care less who comes in, it's the exit they monitor.
I know from working with the cruiselines that their operations & standards for passengers is very lax. They care about the $$ fare, not so much about anything else.
It's VERY easy to board a cruiseship, either a major one like Carnival or a regional one owned by a local in Mexico. You can board in Mexico & disembark at any port, then travel wherever you like. If I were running, that is exactly what I would do...only because I know how easy it is to get on/off without the proper paperwork.

I think the only common denominator in these sightings is that the woman and kids look like Summer, Gianni and little Joey. The man is never quite the same nor does he fit Joseph, other than the Southport sighting, which I find credible having spent time there. So there you have it; a true mystery.
DeleteJoseph being dead would, unfortunately, be consistent with Mike's and other's assertion that it doesn't appear to be Joseph on the border crossing video. In my opinion, I always felt that that man's silhouette appears too slender and tall to be Joey. Still, it takes guts for them to cross the most heavily traveled border crossing in the world and NOT get clear shots indicating Joseph is not among them. That is, of course, if there aren't other images not released by LE.

DeleteI don't have any theories as to where a body might be. Anywhere east of the McStay's house is wide open and becomes desert. They found the body of murdered teenager Amber Dubois just a few miles east of their house, very sad.

DeleteIt is true that I have been in contact with some who have spent two years on the case and we are talking, but I have not committed to anything as of yet. If this family really is in hiding with assistance from the DEA and they are the druggies that some have accused them of being, then I don't want to do anything to do with the case. If, on the other hand, they are on the mountain or disappeared for some other reason, I might be interested, but not in the near future.
My primary passion now is the McStay family and I would have a hard time moving away from them. Though I have never met them, I feel like I know them. I want to know what happened on that Thursday night and where they are. I am hopeful that the book release will generate massive discussion about the family and maybe help bring a resolution, or "partial resolution," to the McStay mystery.
I just don't think I can abandon the McStays until we know what happened and the fate of Gianni and little Joey. Let's find the family!

ReplyDeleteRick, do you know if the San Diego Sheriff's Department is going to issue any special statement on the third anniversary of the case? They have not said much lately and they must know many people are now following this maybe they will give us an update do you think?
ReplyDeleteI wouldn't expect law enforcement to make any statement about the McStays unless there is new information, and even then, probably not.
DeleteMr Baker, did you interview or talk to Dan Kavanugh for your book? I know he has been involved in this in some way or other, just wondered if you talked to him and what he said?
ReplyDeleteYes, I talked to Dan extensively. I devote a long chapter to him in the book. He shed some interesting light on the events just after the disappearance and probably didn't realize much of what he admitted in our many phone, email and text conversations. The last I heard he said he wanted to write his own book called, "Web of Deceit." He demanded that I not publish any of our conversations, which I ignored.

DeleteThis case has turned into one big pissing contest. This one is going to sue that one and that one is going to sue this one. It's ridiculous. Who hasn't been accused of wrong doing? You have, Mike has, Patrick has, DK and CM have. I hope your book does shed new light on this terrible mystery. I also hope that you and the McStays can kiss and make up and eventually work together and find these children. I don't know what happened that your relationship with the McStays became so hostile. At one point the McStays trusted you. I think it's such a mistake to continue this hostility. I hope that 2013 will bring enlightenment to the case and to those chosen to help find the children.
ReplyDeleteThanks for your comment. I talk at length in the book about what happened between myself and Patrick McStay. As far as Mike, I suppose it will be obvious what happened there as well. I agree about the hostility and wish it were not so.

ReplyDeleteThis is a great question. Her neighbor told me she thought she saw her at about 5pm on Thursday, but wasn't positive. I suppose only Summer can answer for certain.

DeleteI read somewhere that you said you had help with your investigation on this case, maybe it was web sleuths. That 'they' had hacked into email accounts and gave you this information. Are you going to reveal who helped you and do they get some of the profits from your book or only TexasSearch?
ReplyDeleteYes, I did have help. In fact, without their help I never would have completed the book. However, I never wrote anywhere that they "hacked" into anyone's email accounts. (The hacking was done by someone else.) The ones who helped me did not break the law in any way and in fact were committed to integrity in everything they did. I offered them part of the profits because I believe they deserved it for their efforts, but they refused. They told me often that all they cared about was finding the family, especially the kids. They proved this to me by their actions.
DeleteApparently, you did not read my above post very carefully. I wrote that the good people who helped me DID NOT hack these email accounts. They are certainly not "unscrupulous" as you claim, in fact, from your post, I would say their integrity towers above yours, and maybe you should count your own scruples.
DeleteLaw Enforcement knows who hacked Joseph's and Summer's email accounts.
The only ones with any standing here are Joseph and Summer. They are welcome to sue over someone hacking their email accounts. The fact is that without these emails, one can continue to believe that the family just crossed the border and are living happily ever after in some other country. However, with the emails, (which are original and not false) this mystery takes a sordid turn.
But, I suspect you are not really interested in solving this mystery. Happy New Year just the same.
